Talkaaz Desk:- Indian Railways has made a big change keeping in mind the safety of passengers. Rail passengers will no longer be able to charge mobiles and laptops while traveling at night. It has been decided to close the charging point in the railway for a fixed time from now.
In view of the safety of passengers, the Indian Railways has made a big rule. Actually, passengers will no longer be able to use the charging point in the train compartments at night. Indian Railways has decided to prohibit the use of charging points at night to prevent accidents from fire. The decision was taken after the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express caught fire on 13 March. Significantly, the fire started in one coach and spread to seven other coaches.
According to Business Today news, the Railways has decided to crack down on smokers as well. Railways are planning to propose an increase in punishment for such crimes. Under Section 167 of the Railway Act, smokers are punished inside the vehicles. Smoking passengers have to pay a fine of up to 100 rupees.
Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway Sumit Thakur said that keeping in mind the safety of passengers, the railways has decided to keep the charging points closed in trains from 11 am to 5 am. Overheating of laptops and mobile phones charged at night caused many incidents of fire in long-distance trains. According to Business Today news, the directive is being implemented in other railway zones as well.
Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway Shivaji Sutar said that an intensive safety awareness campaign has been started to educate all the stakeholders working on trains and stations. CPRO B Gugnason of Southern Railway said that the process of switching off the charging point at night has been repeated by all the divisions of Southern Railway.
