Mark Wahlberg, Julia Roberts, and Other Stars Who Have Moved Out of Hollywood
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, and Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are among the many stars who have decided to take their families out of the LA spotlight.
Mark Wahlberg joins a growing list of celebrities who have turned away from Hollywood.
During an appearance on “The Talk” last week, the 51-year-old actor revealed that he and his family have moved to Nevada, and explained why he decided to relocate.
“I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California several years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a few films during my stay there,” he said.
“So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it is my daughter as a horseman, my son as a basketball player, my son as a golfer. As my younger son, it matters a lot. We.”
While many have attributed the recent exodus to the COVID-19 pandemic, the phenomenon of stars relocating their families out of Hollywood is nothing new.
Relationship expert and psychologist Carmen Harra shares her opinion on why some stars have decided that raising their children elsewhere is in their family’s best interest.
“Some celebrities have chosen to move out of Hollywood to raise their families because they want an overall healthy environment for their children,” Harra told Fox News Digital.
She continued, “Hollywood is a place that is full of opportunities, especially if you are an actor or performer, but it is not necessarily the healthiest environment for a family.”
“In terms of raising children, Hollywood places a lot of pressure on children: children may ‘grow up too quickly’ because of a fast-paced lifestyle, or they may be influenced to participate in unhealthy activities, such as alcohol. drinking, smoking or doing drugs.”
“Hollywood is a glamorous city, but it is superficial, vain and full of temptations – not the ideal environment in which to thrive as a fit and whole family. Many celebrities have realized this and decided to leave the city behind. For the betterment of his family,” he concluded.
Another motivating factor behind leaving is the constant attention of the paparazzi and the lack of secrecy that stars subject in Hollywood, said celebrity love coach and “Reality of Love” host Nicole Moore.
“Wedding can be a huge stress, so things like paparazzi or fans coming in to ask for autographs can really take a toll,” she told Fox News Digital.
“As glamorous as Hollywood can be, it’s also a very stressful environment for most stars,” Moore said. “Imagine having an argument with your partner, as every couple does sometimes, only the paparazzi catch you up, and the next day photos of your fight pop up in the tabloids.
“Most people couldn’t handle it, and the stars are no exception.”
Here’s a look at nine other celebrities who have decided to raise their families outside of Hollywood — and what they’ve said about their reasons for leaving.

Roberts told Oprah Winfrey in 2003 that the farm was where she felt “most at home.”
She continued, “Around here, I come and go like it’s nothing. Los Angeles is such a city of show business, and I’m a terrible celebrity. I find it hard — it’s the animal that got fed. should go.”
In a 2018 interview with Winfrey for Harper’s Bazaar, Roberts told the talk show icon that she doesn’t think her kids will “ever have the true meaning” of her fame.
“I think I told you once when they were starting to understand it, it was like, ‘You’re famous?’ And I said, ‘I think a lot of people must have seen the movie that I’m in or might know who I am.’ Maybe an hour passes. [Then they ask,] ‘Are you more famous than Taylor Swift?'”

Denton recently spoke to Fox News Digital about working on the film with her son and why leaving Los Angeles was best for his family.

The couple welcomed their second daughter, Chapelle Grace, on Christmas Day two months later. They are also parents to three-year-old daughter Westlin Reigns.

Texas native Matthew McConaughey announced that he and his wife, Camila Alves, were moving back to their home state in 2012. The couple live in Austin with their sons Levi, 14, and Livingston, 9, and daughter, Vida, 12.
In April, Alves explained why she and McConaughey prefer to raise their children in Texas rather than Hollywood.
“It really embodies our belief system, especially the ones I grew up with, like going to church every Sunday, saying ‘yes, ma’am’ or ‘no, sir’,” the model told Fox News Digital. Things are coming from families of farmers.”
She continued, “For me, being from Brazil and then coming to Texas, I discovered a lot of similarities here in terms of how families practice, especially going to church on Sundays, and going out a lot. It’s been a great transition. . ”
“We lived in Malibu for many years and there were paparazzi outside our doors every single day – every single day – when it becomes your normal, you don’t realize how much it really affects the things you do. Doing it until you actually get out and get out. It,” Alves continued.
“Kids get to have a personal way of growing up. So from that point of view, it was very important.

“They have an unusual mix,” she said. “They are hybrids”.
Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadowski
Amanda Seyfried and her husband, Thomas Sadowski, live on a farm in New York with their two children and a herd of animals including horses, cows and goats.
In 2021, the “The Dropout” star told the New York Times that she began looking for homes outside Hollywood at age 22 because she wanted to set a boundary between her career and home life.
She bought the Catskills farmhouse in 2014, and her family moved there full-time during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seyfried told the outlet that the time she spent in quarantine on the farm “reinforced my need to be out in the game when I wasn’t working, to be in nature and refresh.”
“Everyone needs a center of gravity. Somewhere to feel safe,” he said.
In a 2020 appearance at Molnar’s Table, she said, “I live on a farm. It’s what I’ve always wanted”.
She further said that she felt that living on the farm made her marriage “even stronger”.

“I miss England so much,” she said. “People, attitude, everything. I’m slowly pulling my husband back.”
Turner continued, “I’d really love to be in America, but for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family. And for my daughter too – I’d love for her to get an education and a school life.” I was very lucky to have. England would ideally be the final destination, but [which] can be quite reassuring!”

Reynolds said, “I think it’s putting a limit on that it’s the world that’s the work, and the world that’s the home.”
