Mahindra Bolero 2022: New Mahindra Bolero launched with dual air bags, more secure than before, know new price and features
Mahindra Bolero 2022: For a company like Mahindra which has been known for making some of the safest cars in India in recent times, the Bolero was not matching its image. The seven-seater SUV that is incredibly popular in the country for its sturdy body build and ability to steer smoothly on rough roads was available with just a driver-side airbag for a long time. However, the government order to make dual front airbags mandatory on all vehicles in the country has now made Mahindra Bolero a bit safer as the SUV now comes with dual front airbags as standard.
The new dual front airbags come along with other safety features like ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor, among others. Speed alerts are included as standard across the entire range.
Apart from the passenger side airbag, no other changes have been made to the Bolero’s equipment list. This means that it will continue to get features like Bluetooth-enabled music system with AUX and USB connectivity, manual air conditioning, keyless entry, power steering and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
When did the new rule come into force
The decision to mandatorily fit dual airbags as standard on all new vehicles sold in India came into effect from January 2022. Earlier, Maruti Suzuki Alto and many budget cars like S-Presso, Renault Kwid and Mahindra Bolero only came with a driver side airbag. In this, passenger-side airbags were made available as an option at a premium or in the top-spec model.
interior look and design
Along with the addition of passenger-side airbags to the dashboard, Mahindra’s interior also sees a lot of changes. Earlier, the Bolero used to come with attractive grab handles on the passenger-side dashboard. However, it now gets a regular dashboard panel and a new faux wood garnish on the passenger side, similar to the wood-finish on the central console around the AC vents and music system.
The Mahindra Bolero was also expected to get a new dual-tone color option. However, the Bolero will continue to be available with only three monotone paint options – White, Silver and Brown.
engine and power
Mahindra Bolero gets the same 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder diesel mHawk75 engine as before. This engine generates the power of 75hp and peak torque of 210 Nm. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox which sends power only to the rear wheels.
how much is the new price
The Bolero is available in three trim levels – B4, B6 and B6 Opt. Front passenger-side airbags have made the SUV a bit expensive. Its prices have increased from Rs 14,000 to Rs 16,000 depending on the variant. The Mahindra Bolero B4 variant costs Rs 9 lakh while the B6 variant costs Rs 9.8 lakh. And for the top-model B6 optional variant, it costs Rs 10 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi. Bolero has no direct rival in the Indian market.
